Cooking Area Work Centres

The basic cooking area provides for the proper environment and storage of all elements crucial for meal handling and preparation. Each work centre should offer effective working conditions for its designated functions. The various activities involved in meal preparation from cleaning to cooking and serving are concerted in this area. Therefore, it is segmented into a number of work centres comprising;

The cleaning area-This is where cleaning takes place including that of foods such as vegetables etc. The sink is found in this area .It should be kept clean likely with the use of hot soapy water. A scouring powder can be utilized in case of stains. The sink should also have a draining bowl. 

The preparation centre- This where you prepare your food. It could be the counter top where you cut your vegetables and meat, or thresh cereals etc.

The cooking centre-This is where cooking takes place. This is also where the utensils and cutlery are stored.

The baking centre –This is where the oven is placed and baking takes place. It can be included in the cooking area.

The dining area-This is where eating takes place. The seats and tables are set here. The dishes should be within reach, and it should be easy to access the refrigerator.

The mentioned work centres are found in he kitchen. They allow for  easy work flow and task completion during meal preparation.
