Roasting is dissimilar from baking since it uses an open flame while baking is done in an oven-like apparatus. Also, unlike grilling roasting uses an open flame while grilling uses a rack. With roasting, the fire is in direct contact with food while with grilling a grill-like apparatus is utilized. Temperatures used for either cooking method also vary.
