Aluminium
It is combined with other compounds to form an alloy and utilized in the making of pans. It is easy to clean and absorbs heat fast. Steel wool can be used to remove dark stains. Other stains can be removed with the use of lemon juice or vinegar. It is best that you avoid the use of sodium bicarbonate for cleaning to avoid dissolving the aluminium.
Porcelain enamel
It is glass-like material that can be coloured or whitened by pacifying agents. It is easy to clean and non-porous, though not a good conductor of heat. Mostly used in the making of washers dryers and fridges. Also some kettles and pans can be formed with these material. Should be washed using soapy water or soaked in a solution of sodium carbonate. Avoid scouring them or sudden changes in temperature. They should be dried after washing.
Chromium
A shiny metal used in cutlery such as spoons and forks. Should be washed with water and soap, and dried. The use of abrasives should be avoided.
Cast iron
An alloy of iron, silicone and iron. This material is mostly applied in the making of sauce pans, pressure cookers and casseroles. Normally, equipment made from cast-iron are durable and heavy duty. These equipment should be cleaned using a damp cloth and hot soapy water and then dried.
Zinc
A metal used in the making of buckets and dust bins, and is easy to clean. Equipment should be washed with soapy water, and then dried. No abrasives should be used.
Wood
Is easy to clean and is durable. Used in the making of rolling pins, chopping boards, cooking spoons, pastry boards etc. Should not be scrubbed but instead washed and then dried with a clean cloth. In case of stains, a solution of hypochlorite can be used.
Silver
It is usually coated with other metals such as steel, nickel or chromium. Hand washing is recommended with the use of warm soapy water, then rinsed and dried. Used in the making of cutlery such as spoons, forks,

Do not use abrasive materials as they can cause scratches. Also, avoid the use of vinegar and lemon to prevent acidity that can cause damage. Wash with some warm soapy water and soft cloth.
Glass
Used to make jugs, glasses, bowls, plates.-Use warm soapy water. Avoid abrasive materials. Wash with soft cloth and mild detergents.
